Hobby and Inspiration go hand in hand

One of the things I love most about writing this website is the contact we get from the hobby community – both locally and internationally. I recently got an email from a reader – Matthew and after chatting with him, he has okayed me sharing some of the conversation.

Matt got in touch with an email expressing his thanks to us for the work we have done on the site and the event scene in Perth, even though he has not attended one (he is an Aussie living in Canada!). He also made the comment that he was working on Harlequins after reading about the WATC event in 2016.

I am not gonna lie, I was having a struggle day with the website (I am making some significant changes in the back end for some upgrades and I am having to learn a bunch of new things to make it do what I want, and not being a programmer its been tough going) and the thought that someone in Canada was reading and enjoying what we had to say was a real lift for me.

I am always keen to see followers of the laughing god so sent a reply and as part of that reply asked for pictures of the harlequins – boy was I about to be blown away!

Matt replied again, with the pictures I asked for and a link to his own blog – Heavens Teeth – as well as more thoughts and questions for me. The Harlequins he has completed I think you will agree are pretty awesome work!

In my haste to reply, I did not click on the website until after I hit send… I was blown away by what I saw when I did.

Matt has some amazing work on display – sculpting, painting but the thing that struck me most was the diorama range. The details are exquisite and I spent an hour going through all the pictures. The scratch sculpt of Angron was also a highlight for me (being a world eater at heart!) You should seriously grab yourself a drink and half an hour to check out Matts hobby blog – genuinely amazing work!

It turns out Matt is a long time listener/follower of mine – from Worlds End radio first and now ObSec. That thought, it turns out, is humbling like I did not expect. Its also hugely inspiring – that someone, anyone, would be keen to see and hear more from us about this amazing hobby of ours.

So I want to say thank you to Matt – and to everyone out there in the world who reads/watches/listens to anything we produce! I hope you enjoy what we do as much as we enjoy doing it!
