Merry 40k Christmas from Objective Secured

Happy 40k Christmas!

Xmas guard

While my wife has already said her thanks on the Facebook page, I wanted to post here for those who might not be social media linked.

Objective Secured started as a Blog for all things 40k in June 2015. When I started it, it was to inspire myself as much as anything else. I had lost some of my mojo as it were and despite being keenly involved in the community, I lacked a lot of drive for my own hobby. Combined with a lacklustre event calendar for 2015 saw me at a, potentially, all time low in regards to the hobby. We all get that and a break can be good to come back reinvigorated. The other choice is to suck it up, and embrace the opportunities available.

Thanks to the support of the WA community as well as friends and readers over seas, we have managed to grow and evolve over the last 6 months to more than just a blog. We are now hosted and growing almost daily on the site with plenty of upgrades being tested in recent weeks. We have gamers all over the world reading the blog and interacting with us which is a big deal for me! This sort of collaboration is what makes forums so popular for our hobby and the sharing of ideas can really get you inspired. Its something I hope to bring to the site in 2016!

We were also able to organise over 60 Fatmats thanks to the awesome guys at Frontline Gaming, for WA gamers which no doubt contributed to the huge success and turn out for the first Objective Secured Masters event in November of this year – the single largest 40k event in WA ever held! I have been a little lax in getting photos for the event up but I will be correcting that shortly!

We supported a fellow WA gamer (and good friend) in her fundraising efforts to get to Antarctica via Homeward Bound. Giving back to the community which helped us get where we are is very important and we will continue to support these great causes in future! If you can help even a little – follow This LINK and help a fellow gamer out!

We also launched our scoring app and have the plans for phase 2 and 3 underway to really make it THE app to use when playing 40k or any table top game for that matter! You can find it on the iTunes store for now under iphone apps. Don’t worry android users – its coming!

In short – its been a fantastic first (half) year.

I will take this opportunity to say thanks to a number of people who helped me get here this last 6 months…

To Richard, my fellow writer here on Objective Secured, I really appreciate your support and dedication to the hobby and the blog. Its been great to bounce ideas off you, in list writing, game play, hobby and more – I hope this continues in 2016!

To Mitch, I had forgotten how excited and passionate about 40k people can be – its something you reminded me of when I first started the blog and its something I still see in you when ever we talk hobby. Your support of our events is second to none – that sort of support is appreciated more than you know!

To my fellow gamers, Pete & G, Brett W, Tim F, Dan N, Scott B and everyone else I talked hobby with this year – each of you does amazing things with the hobby and its always an honour to be part of your hobby.

Last but not least – to my Wife Emma. You have supported me in everything we have done this last 6 months. You have pushed me and  supported me through this crazy journey. You make sure I stay on target and focus on the task at hand. You listen to me whinge about terrain (like everyone who reads this!) and helped me run out first major event. You are my best friend and I could not do any of this without you.

I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe Christmas filled with love, laughter, family (and gaming!)

Lets hope the cadian’s above are a rubbish shot and Santa has stopped past GW and FW for us!

From our family to yours – Merry 40k Christmas!

Mike
