More terrain and a new side project

Busy, busy, busy

That kinda covers it these last couple of days! As my new hobby room – lovingly nicknamed the dungeon by my wife – nears completion (some time next week) I am getting ready to ramp up the terrain prep. In the short term, I finished my frontier/outer rim world table!

Masters Frontier Table

As you can see its not much of a traditional 40k table! It has about a third of the table covered in terrain and feature line of sight blockers, elevated positions, scatter terrain, area terrain and even a couple of ponds!

Here is a models eye view – plenty of variety in terms of line of sight with some obscured space, some open and some completely blocked. The next 5 tables are much more traditional 40k boards but I wanted to show this off regardless. Its the first fully painted table of terrain (that I have done myself) I have ever had in more than 20 years of gaming!

Conversely, Danger Rod has just updated his board (for me to use at the event) and the terrain is stunning!

Ah – now this is 40k right! How good does this look right! He is working madly on more terrain for me right now to go on my blasted wasteland boards – 2 of them – and I can’t help but be excited. He can certainly paint!

In other news, I found this at the local KMart today while preparing for a family NERF war…

NERF Bolter

Does it remind you at all of a certain weapon found commonly among the legionsĀ astartesĀ in the 40k universe? It sure did to me! While it will wait till after November, this might just need a few modifications and a new paint job to look just right.

Back to terrain for me!
