ARMY TOTAL POINTS [1849]
So, what does it do? It puts 1789 points of it 1849 total into a single gigantic death star unit of doom! That’s a total of 8 thunderwolf mounted characters with 8 wolves and 16 cyber wolves who all join up (voltron style) to the dark angel librarian (who is no doubt fishing for invisibility) and his command squad of ravenwing bikers. This buffs the unit considerably thanks to the apothecary for feel no pain as well as the hit and run ability from the unit itself. It has a huge damage soaking ability thanks to the T5, 2+/3++ characters as well as the volume of cheap wolf bodies.
It scores objectives well late game by splitting the characters off in packs of 2 or 3 as needed and the unit has huge board control thanks to the sheer size of the unit on the table. It has little in the way of shooting attacks – not even a dozen bolter shots at max range – which means it relies on bullying the enemy into a corner and then charging them. More mobile enemies could be problematic as could flyers though the space available for a flyer to move will be very limited. Its a great counter potentially to knight lists as well thanks to the volume of rending and thunder hammer attacks it has. Sure, stomp is an issue if that magic 6 comes up but if not – the knight is probably toast!
Its nice to see such an outrageous build coming to the ATC this year – it will be very interesting in how it fares on the day
And yes – I know voltron is lions, not wolves but the Dark Angels Primarch was called the Lion so it kinda works!
