Episode 30: Myth Busters part 2
This episode (part 2 of a LONG chat!) sees Mike and Emma delve into just some of the many, many, MANY myths surrounding tournaments, the culture and atmosphere as well as the players who attend them and the organisers who host them.
We take questions from our listeners and readers from where ever they reside and delve into it – with our usual rambling finesse… so much finesse in fact we end up with enough content for another episode (check out episode 29) before this one!
This episode is a more serious one that the previous, looking closely at ‘boys clubs & cliques’, toxic culture and behaviours as well as the idea of unbeatable armies, how intimidating it can be to go to your first event (especially as an introvert) and how you as a tournament regular can take steps to make newcomers more welcome.
We also by the time of this episode airing will have a new addition to the ObSec titan family but I can’t say for sure because we recorded in advance… wish me luck while at Warhammer World!
You can check out the 1 minute deployment of the Astra Militarum from our last Apocalypse game HERE.
What myths have you heard about tournaments and their attendees? What have you seen firsthand that made you go – that’s not what I had heard! Does culture and region play a part in these perceptions in your experience? Do your freshly painted models always die in the first turn of their inaugural games? We would love to hear about your experiences – we want to hear from you!
