By now, you all know just how much I love terrain…. right?
Well regardless, I know we more for future events so I enlisted the help of Danger Rod last week and we got stuck into more.
DR (as he will now be known since I can’t be bothered to write his whole name right now!) did a fantastic job on all the foam terrain for Masters in 2015 and he continued this again with even more ice world terrain, a few new pieces for the desert board and some awesome new semi industrial pieces
Pretty cool right!
While he did this – I decided to build a kit I had heard horror stories about and had put off building it for some time – the GW Plasma Obliterator. The gun assembly went together well (well ok) and then all the trouble started… the battlements were so warped and mis-cast they simply did not fit at all. DR at first said I was being soft but upon closer inspection agreed it was stuffed. Thankfully I have a great relationship with one of the local GW managers and at this stage, I should get a new kit to sort the issue. That had left me somewhat deflated though as I was inspired to get terrain done.
Instead, I have gone back to the Tau Tidewall sets of terrain. These are proper GW casts out of the UK (as I have mentioned before and they are such a joy to build. I had already grabbed 2 wall sections but have plumped for a third wall as well as the drone port and gun rig to round out the terrain.
Like I said in a previous post these kits are really so simple to build they almost snap together.
This is almost all 5 kits together – I think its actually 4 & 1/2 since the last bunker piece is not there. The best part is I have a bunch of spare parts from the bunker sections I am hoping Dr will work some magic on a wrecked section for me.
I also snagged a really unique set from the afore mentioned GW manager – the Relicos Militarum set!
Its a huge set – it should almost do a full 6×4 table by itself! What I really like is that its got its own mission when you deploy it as they show – its a really great touch to the kit. The box is huge and I am looking forward to building it in the coming days to go with my Urban Combat FAT Mat!
