A short post today about Necrons! – its actually part motivator for me as well.
Since all the terrain work in November 2015, I have been in a painting lull. I have been building a bunch but putting paint brush to model had eluded me. I have had no drive for it at all.
I have had a small necron force for a while now, partly assembled and undercoated. When I sprayed the first unit (5 immortals) with silver, the can I had was defective and the paint left them super slick and shiny. It purged any will I had to paint them as I could see me having to strip them and start again.
I was with Danger Rod recently talking armies and dug out the crons and showed him the issue. He told me to suck it up and paint them to see what I could salvage. Got to love tough love!
Fast forward a week and there I am, brush in hand and painting Immortals!
I decided I would see just how fast I could get them on the board – while still having them look ok to me.
You will have to forgive the terrible phone photo – I was away from home with my family when inspiration struck!
The bases are simply the crackle paint and texture paints repainted, washed and drybrushed to be earth and cracked pavement. I left the metal skeletons very dark metal and the guns a dark grey. the white panel on their heads and the strong red accents on the guns and shoulders lift the models a great deal – at least to me!
I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with the results! It took me just 5 hours for the unit from undercoat to finished!
I have quite a few more necrons to do – at least 20 warriors, a couple of characters and a few vehicles. I will post some more pics when the next unit is done and promise it won’t be with my phone!
Until then – happy gaming!
