With Masters 2015 now behind me and some semblance of normality returning, I wanted to show off today some of the awesome work of the Painting Finalists for these awards for the event. We had 66 players competing at the event – more than any other event here in WA and our hobbyists really brought out some sensational work for their armies! While I was busy scoring, a couple of the players grabbed some great photos and its taken me far longer to edit them than I would have liked.
So without further ado – here they are!
First up we have the army that went on to win the painting award – a beautiful Chaos Daemons army painted by a hobbyist who were it not for the fact she is so lovely, I could easily hate thanks to her raw talent!
Notice the tall creepy thing in the back ground – that’s her custom void shield generator for the army! A real mess of tendrils, limbs and colours that really works well with the force!
Just some of the awesome screamers and heralds in the army – the whole force is a vibrant array of colour that really works well and suits the chaotic nature of the army.
Next up (and runner up for the category) was a Grey Knights force which is designed to match up with the aforementioned daemons! It helps these 2 hobbyists are married! Another stunning army full of little details!
He even added a portal for Lord Draigo to emerge from on the display board!
Next up we have some lovely blue tau – with great contrasting white for the Commander and the notable models. Its great to see these models not painted in yellow brown!
This force was actually a Space Wolves force with allied Scions and a knight but the player in question is a chaos fan at heart! The Gatling gun on the knight was even motorised!
More Chaos marines but these are the real deal with Huron Blackheart leading the army. I wish I got more pictures of this force because it had so many great conversions!
More Daemons again – this time by a hobbyist have known for some time. While not the fastest of painters (his words – not mine!) he delivers the good in terms of finish.
Who doesn’t like tanks? This was the whole army – 9 Leman Russ and a hydra! It looked fantastic on the table despite him not winning a single game for the weekend!
The first of the space wolves (or should that be Vlka Fenryka) to make the finals – Its great to see Ragnar seeing the table again!
Despite the tyranids, this is a Black Templars army and its a very simple concept – lots of land raiders! The display board really set this army apart when judging took place.
Our second Wolves entry to the finals – this time with a huge volume of giant wolves! In the back ground of both photos you can even see the chapter master on his sled joined the fight.
This last force was painted by Obsecs own – Danger Rod. He did a great job of combining Ravenwing, Iron Hands and Mechanicus into a viable fighting force and make them look coherent on the table!
So there you have it – just some of the great armies we saw at Masters 2015! I have a huge amount of photos still to go through and you will see them shortly!
Until next time!
