Just a short update while I keep up the terrain painting… I would not say I am inspired to do it right now – just that I don’t feel negative towards doing it! Might as well embrace it then!
The finished kit today? Baleful Realmgates!
They are on the expensive side here in Australia – the tune of $100 for the pair. Despite that, the kit is easy to build and simple to paint. For 40k, the height is great for giving cover to the larger models that have made their way into the game while not completely blocking line of sight.
The first one was ok to build but never quite went together cleanly – there is a minor gap in the stair case. The other was 100% ok though I did build it in a different sequence to the first as it felt more intuitive and seemed to go together better.
Yeah, its a simple paint job – just a couple of greys dry brushed then the blues and some skulls – but I think these are more than ok for the table top. Should I get time before masters in November this year, I will add some gold details as well. I did gloss varnish the blue portal effects just to make it look more energy like but in retrospect, its probably not needed.
I hope to add another update later today… back to painting!
