Got a bunch done today! Its been a busy weekend and I managed to get more completed than expected but it was not the kits I was aiming to do… I suppose that’s ok since I still got stuff done!
First up – Imperial Bastion!
I have had one of these for some time and never quite got around to finishing it off – today I did just that. I seem to have lost the heavy bolters from the windows so a couple of pieces of plasticard painted black and at least its not see through now!
Next kit on the table – the Imperial Bunker!
This is a sensational little kit – one I can highly recommend! I actually just about completed this a month or so ago but today I finished it off. I went with a very battle damaged and abandoned look so it can be used by any army I own.
The Honoured Imperium is next!
Urgh. The aquilla is very straight forward – just 2 pieces and the little ruins are as well – but they have a massive hole in the sculpt so they never seem to fit together quite right. The statue is a massive pain and without significant work to clean up the kit, it does not seem to fit together nicely. I actually have 2 of the statue (I picked one up in a trade a while back) and it was much nicer to build – could be due to a newer batch when it first came out.
The first statue in the pics above is much darker than the second. Its been hit with numerous washes to darken up the finish and make it dirty. The second statue is much cleaner, with some static grass on the base which seemed to really lighten the finish up. The aquilla I really enjoyed doing… which sounds quite bizarre given how simple it is. I got to experiment again with dirty washes and effects to make it look old and decayed and despite the simple process, I am very happy with the finish!
As of right now – here is the terrain I have completed in the last week or so…
Ok – so its not nearly enough but its a half decent start in my mind! I have a bunch of little scatter terrain to sort out, some pipe lines, some craters and some tank traps – then on to the cities of death buildings! Got to stay focused!
