WA 40k Masters 2016 – Photo Gallery

With the 40k Masters for 2016 over, its about time to get some photos of some of the armies up for viewing including our top 3 forces. A big thank you has to go to Dan and Alison – who are fast becoming the ObSec unofficial photography crew – really appreciate it guys!

Some fantastic armies I think you will agree! What was also awesome was we had a great variety this year – with just about every codex represented in some way. I think the only codex not in use (at least those available on the day) was the Militarum Tempestus!

Lets look at a few special armies now…

img_2869

Here we have Mitch’s Biel-Tann Eldar force, led by the fearsome Jain Zar! We have a trio of bright orange harlequins to round out the force as well which really adds a great contrast. Why mention it? Mitch brought a very similar version of this list to this years ATC in Sydney and did very well with it in both events – he placed 3rd over all this year with it! Mitch is also the TO for our first Age of Sigmar event being held in a couple of weeks so I expect you will be seeing more from him here in the future.

Next mention has to go to Dan – our unofficial photographer. Here are his Lamenters (Blood Angels) space marines with no less than 3 storm ravens! I have had the pleasure of seeing this army grow over the last 12 months with more and more finished each time. The yellow colour has been a huge endeavour for him (or anyone I expect!) and the checks that feature on the army are a testament to his patience! Now if he could just win a few games more than he looses!

Here we have our own Danger Rod’s army – Tau and Dark Angels. Day and Night, Light and Dark – the army is one of contrasts. He painted much of the white tau in just a week or so! In the foreground you might even make out the 4 assassins he added on a whim… he should give us some more pictures of this whole army I think…

honourable-mention

Honourable Mention – Don Crick.

Before we got on to the top 3 armies for the event, a special mention needs to go to Don. Don came and told us early in the day before judging that his army was not wholly painted by himself and thus was not eligible for painting awards. This sort of integrity is fantastic to see at any event! I will point out he painted a good chunk himself and did such a good job I can’t tell which ones he did and which he had painted for him. Regardless of this – its a fantastic looking army of space wolves!

3rd-place

3rd Place – James Flain

James has quite a striking force of space marines – and that yellow knight just makes the whole army pop! I also really like the pair of storm talons (sadly cropped from the pic) who use a mirror colour scheme to each other and look fantastic on the table! Not bad for his first event I think! Gaming wise I really enjoyed Pedro Kantor calling in a orbital barrage having just got out of a drop pod with his centurions only for that same strike to scatter 12″ back and kill all the centurions – Kantor himself only surviving thanks to his iron halo! James took it in his stride – showing his sportsmanship while laughing at his chapter master recreating the fall of the crimson fists!

2nd-place

2nd Place – Russell Moore

I have had the pleasure of playing Russell and he is always a great opponent. This is another army I have seen grow over the last 12 months and I think you will agree its one striking force! Lots of custom big guns at the back end, 3 battle wagons to ferry the mega nobs, bikes and more – the army shows just what Orks can do! Well themed and visually striking, its a worthy army for 2nd place.

1st-place

1st Place – Ghislaine Platell

I have a love/hate relationship with Ghislaine and her armies – I love the finish on her armies but hate she can do it so quickly! Its a stunning Siam Hann force I think you will agree with a custom board complete with terrain. It was painted to what you see in just a few short weeks while she “learned” to airbrush (yeah… learned…right…). I know she has even more plans to add to the force and add even more details to the individual models which means players in Perth need to really step up their painting! A worthy winner for painting at masters for sure!

Lastly – you can check out our 2016 highlight reel below! Hope you enjoyed the look at the 2016 WA 40k masters!
