Ynnariquins

I have an event in a couple of weeks time – 1850 points, mono faction, 3 detachments and eternal war missions from Chapter Approved 2018. What better time to put an Ynnari army together and try them out! That and if you listened to Episode 46 you know that Emma has said I must get game time in with this new facet of the Aeldari!

Thanks to the organiser, despite mono faction, so long as the whole force is Ynnari I am allowed to mix the army detcahments up between the 3 factions – Harlequins, Craftworld and Drukhari.

My first thoughts are the Yncarne is out. I love the rules and the model but its over 330 points and at 1850 that’s just too much. This immediately limits me to 2 detachments as I wouldn’t have a 3^rd ynnari character to add.

Harlequins work really well as Ynnari and gain a bunch in the change over. Striking first and then hitting on 2+ potentially with access to rerolls and rerolls to wound means even small squads can decimate targets they charge. Ill start with this part of the list first. Ynnariquins!

We need 2 HQ for a battalion – The visarch with his reroll aura is a solid choice for Ynnari while a shadowseer can deal mortal wounds, fight and support in equal measure. For now, we will skip the troupe master for his reroll wounds aura because we can get that elsewhere and its another 70+ points I would need to find.

Troops choices will be 3 troupes of harlequins all in star weavers. Im a little limited in how they are armed due to them being older kits but a couple of fusions per squad and 4/5 with combat weapons means they should do work when they contact things. I don’t like the idea of running them in such small numbers but I don’t have much choice sadly. Points are tight and I need somewhere to embark the ynnari heroes and the shadowseer.

This combo of just 17 infantry and 3 star weavers comes in at just under 865 points… so I have 1000 to spend on the other detachment less the 130ish points for yvraine. But which faction should I run? Drukhari or Craftworld? You will have to wait until after the event to find out!
