Episode 25: Spirit Fingers
Those are not spirit fingers… THESE are spirit fingers! Episode sees us take a question from one of our bi-weekly live streams and try and answer it with more time to think, prepare and plan. It should be a well thought out and succinct conversation but as you no doubt know by now (assuming this isn’t your first episode!) we get a little side tracked here and there!
Here is the question we got in full –
“Where do you stand on the idea gamers always try and game the system? Do you think it’s enough to trust people to play in the spirit of the game or do you think more hard and fast rules need to be adopted?”
We tried to answer in a 30 second spot (well, I tried, Emma said wait till the podcast!) so here we are to take the question and delve down the rabbit warren of complex social behaviours! At least one of us is qualified in psychology!
What do you think about this highly complex question? How would you go about applying rules to what are already rules laden tabletop games? Are all gamers always looking for an edge either knowingly or unwittingly? Is it just human nature? Why not give us your thoughts – we want to hear from you!
