Episode 42: Big Yellow Bus
Trying to avoid the Big Yellow Bus is half the battle when it comes to team events – or is it? Sometimes you need to get thrown under that oncoming bright yellow metal monstrosity to make sure your team makes the grade… but that’s just one part of the chat! We are talking team events off the back of the ANZTC 40k event that ran the 18/19th May 2019.
Congratulations to team QLD on their 1st place for 2019 and to my own home states team – who placed 2nd overall only losing at the final hurdle vs those pesky queenslanders! The WA boys did our state proud. Full event results can be found HERE
We talk about some of the challenges of making a team event happen from the organisers perspective but also from a players. Just what do you need to consider when making a team? How do you get the right mix of players and just whats at stake when you agree to play for a team? With so many opportunities to travel to play, team events are a great way to build friendships and bonds that extend well past the usual hobby friends – we recommend you play one if you get the chance!
Have you been part of a team event? Local, national or international? Are you interested in joining the ObSec team as part of a road trip to the USA, Europe or anywhere else for that matter? We would love to hear about your experiences – we want to hear from you!
