Southern Hemisphere Open – Spotlight on painting competition.

Painting competition at Southern Hemisphere Open. Southern Hemisphere Open, June 1-3 Claremont Showgrounds WA.

Southern Hemisphere Open is many things to many people. We wanted to bring as many elements of hobby together as possible so we can support as many gamers as possible.

This year at Southern Hemisphere Open we have more painting and hobby elements than ever before including our third annual painting competition.

Painting competition.

This is the third year that we will run a painting competition. It is an opportunity for painters from any and all game systems to showcase their skills. It isn’t limited to models from only one game system and instead it is categorised by genre.

The painting competition genres include Historical, Sci Fi, Fantasy and young bloods. Young bloods is a stand alone category aimed at painters under 16. Historical, Sci-Fi and Fantasy are further broken down into single small mini, single large mini, squad and diorama. This gives a great opportunity for painters to allow their creativity to flow.

It is just $2 per entry to participate, payable on the day. All entries must be at SHO by 2pm on the 1st June for judging that afternoon. There is an entry form that needs to be filled out, SHO Crew will be on hand to assist with filling out the form and to take payment of $2 per entry, label the models (discretely – under the base) and place it in the cabinet.

I have included the entry form here so you can speed up the process on the day, however they will be available at the ticket desk at SHO as well.

Workshops

There are many amazing painting and hobby workshops available this year as well and we have done a podcast focusing on them.

While there will be a couple of spare spots possibly available for workshops on the day we really need painting workshop numbers finalised ASAP so we can purchase the resources required and the volunteers running the workshops can prep for them.

Here is a list of the amazing workshops we have this year.

Panels

I will cover the panels in another post as I think that they deserve their own mention. Saying that, here is a brief overview of the panels on offer.
