Episode 48: Show me the money!
Show me the money! We are talking monetizing tabletop gaming in this episode. We have seen the rise of prize pools in recent years for tabletop tournaments. Flights to other events, box sets and now cash prizes are coming in thick and fast so we decided to deep dive on the topic and see what shakes loose.
We have to congratulate the Australian ETC team for 2019 who managed an amazing effort to finish 4th of the 36 teams only missing out on the top spot in a nail biter against England. I wonder if the teams made some new ashes to share and compete for in coming years? Regardless this is the best result we have managed since Australia started going in 2012.
If you are keen to see the Pro Tabletop set up you can find the link HERE – the site covers the gaming mat, terrain, event timing and rulings and more. It’s a really interesting and polarizing format and plan for sure – the internet has been rife with opposed views, feedback and more.
What do you think of cash prizes for tabletop events? Does the idea of cash prizes bother you or would you be more likely to attend as a result? How much is an acceptable ticket price for an event giving away thousands of dollars in cash? We would love to hear about your experiences and hear your feedback on this contentious topic – we want to hear from you!
