Episode 61: The Advantage of Modelling

Episode 61: The Advantage of Modelling

Modelling for Advantage… its an episode we have been putting off because we know just how much of a complex topic this is and one that’s close to the hearts of competitive gamers in particular. This particular episode topic is specifically around the game of Warhammer 40,000 and just why now after 25+ years of the game we are getting so much push back around how people build their models.

We check out just a few of the examples of what are commonly noted as modelling for advantage and why those examples don’t close the case for or against the perceived advantages of these changes. We discuss base sizes as well as heights of those bases. The heroes of the 41st Millennium certainly don’t carry around their rubble when they move!

Just one example of modelling we found online of something that’s often considered taboo

We delve into some of the reasons why we now have these vocal modelling for advantage claims and how they could be addressed – though we have no such say in the changes being made let alone applied! True line of sight has a lot to answer for in this case!

What’s your take on modelling for advantage? Has our conversation changed your opinion on how people should be building their models for events? Do you think there should be an overhaul of the terrain and line of sight rules? We would love to hear about your experiences and hear your feedback on this topic – we want to hear from you!
